Long time no speak

Whooo...It's been a long time!

Things have been a bit hectic here in what I am now coming to call "Box City".  Originally I was going to be making a ton of Easter Corgi stuff, but after my hubby got the Maryland job, it has been a ton of packing and visiting relatives and taking care of Wisconsin stuff.  I really haven't got around to typing here.  Sorry about that.

Earlier this month I got to go to Maryland to get toured around by hubby's bosses (yes, multiple) and see parts of Baltimore as well as parts of his job.  More for him, of course, than for me, but it was still cool.  Baltimore should just be called the patchwork city.  It's a lot of good area bad area running into each other.  Thankfully, I get to live 10 miles away from work, and therefore out of the city.  If we were going to go with the original situation of living within walking distance of hubby's job, I think I would have had to have gotten one of those imitation grass pee pads for the dog for at night.  There is just no way that I could walk a dog in the middle of the night in the middle of the city and feel secure.  Eeep! (BTW, I don't have a dog yet, but hubby says that I shouldn't have to go another Christmas wishing for a corgi.  We shall see, no? :) )

We also got to tour the apartment that we're going to rent. Yay for not blind moving!  It's comparable in size to what I currently live in, but the ceilings are lower and it's not as open.  It gives it a smaller appearance without actually being so.  It's just something I'll have to get used to.   I will miss my garage, but at least there will be a small free storage unit and free parking.

These aren't pictures of our actual, ACTUAL apartment.  They were laying down hardwood floors that day and it's on the main floor, not a basement-esque one like this one.  I'm sure that having hardwood will be a lot easier to clean up corgi fur from than carpet!

While hubby was getting lab tours, I was left to entertain myself.  So I was left in the harbor area for about 4 hours and went to the aquarium.  I am so glad that I have a professional looking camera!  You have a little point and click and everyone is in your way.  You go in with a DSLR (Nikon D5000 Thank you wedding money!) and people get out of your way and think you have authority when you say something off hand.  I do not abuse said power, but it's pretty darn cool!

Sorry about the dolphin pics not being that clear.  I refused to flash any animals.

The next day we got up and essentially hoofed it around town dragging our rolling bags behind us because we had to check out at noon and our flight was at 4:30 pm.  That was interesting...

So with our flight, it was perpetually delayed.  We were supposed to get into MN around 9pm, we didn't get in until 11:30pm.  Also, we had to deal with connecting flights and right before we got to get into the plane, they decided there was not enough overhead storage (if people put their bags with their wheels towards the aisles, all would have fit) and had to check our bags.  Luckily I had the foresight to fish my camera bag out of my rolly suitcase.  After about 5 hours at Chicago's Midway airport, and finally arriving in MN, my bag was destroyed!  Thankfully they deemed it proper to replace said bag at no charge.  Luckily, I only lost one necklace out of that mess.
New ROLLY SUITCASE!!!
(It's even better than the original!)

Thank you for putting up with photo spam,

Completed Appa costume

To tell you the truth, I finished it on the 23rd or 24th, I don't remember, but I have this knack for getting distracted.

Don't worry, the hat goes on like a bonnet.

Appa Costume 98% done

I was originally going to do a tutorial for this one as well, but I kind of got into things and forgot to take pictures...I also apparently forgot to pick up elastic.  So that is why it is only 98% done.  I need it for the gloves and booties.

I based the pattern off a 9 mos old onesie that I enlarged so that is should fit 10-12 mos.  The child was just born in February, so it should be plenty big, but just in case of a growth spurt I made it bigger than it should need to be.  The child is put into the costume from the crotch area, which seals with Velcro, and there is a Velcro notch in the back to give room for his head. There is a button on the back to attach or detach the tail for sitting purposes.  This is all made from silk, fake fur, plastic eyes, and imitation suede.
This costume would have been easier if I didn't have to line it, but the opposite side of the fake fur is quite itchy!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Here, have a video!

I DID manage to finish it in time!

Busy Busy Busy

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!  I was going to post an animation, but I'm not done yet.  Let's see if I finish it before the day's out!

So, I got back from the wedding out in Milwaukee only to turn back around 2 days later for a funeral.  A friend of mine's father died.  I got to see many of my friends, which was great, but I've got to stop putting my foot in my mouth.  My only defense is that they gave me sugar soda, and I usually drink diet.  I might as well be semi-drunk with how I react if you give me enough.

On a different note, I love Ragstock. I got all these for $36.

Usually that's the price for one cheap obi online.  I got them for gifts for a different friend of mine's wedding to give away to her bridesmaids.  I'm one of them.  To tell you the truth, I hope I get the mostly white one, but we'll see. :D All I know is that her specifications were either to go for blue, purple, or silver on the obis.  If you ever check some of those out, you find them in the more fruitier flavors.  Mostly, purple shows up in a little too pink consistency.  Oh well, I hope she likes these too.

Back from the Wedding

So I'm back from the wedding this past weekend.  I got to see family and friends and got to look like a chubby Audry Hepburn.  Yes, I am using the term "chubby" affectionately, but ya gotta take what you can get. *Sigh*  Just why does everyone want me to stand in their wedding when I'm the biggest I have ever been?  No justice there.

Alright, let's get out of this pout fest!  Here are a couple of pics of my cat (who lives at my parents' house.  He'd die as a city cat) with a toy mouse on his head.

Yes, Griz is tolerant of me at times.

I also got to get a new converter for my micro sd card, so I FINALLY, after about 4 mos I think,  got to finish this animation!

I hope you enjoy!

Weddings

Sorry I've been quiet for a while.  I'm headed over to Milwaukee for a friend's wedding this weekend.  I'm standing in it, so I've been prepping for a while.

In other news, my hubby has officially been given a job offer.  So off to Maryland we will be moving, for sure this time. :)  I have to say, I am excited for the warmer climate.
